Not every fence is there to hide behind. This one marks out a front garden and driveway without closing it in, and it does it in a material that won’t ask for a weekend of painting every few summers.
The posts are DuraPost Classic in anthracite — powder-coated galvanised steel. The boards are DuraPost Urban composite in oak, run horizontally between them.
Steel posts solve the problem that finishes off most timber fences. Wooden posts rot at ground level, and they twist and split as they dry out and swell again through the seasons. Steel does none of that, which is why DuraPost back the Classic post with a 25-year guarantee against structural failure. The composite boards are the same idea applied to the infill: they hold their colour, they don’t splinter, and they never need painting or staining. A wash down is the whole maintenance schedule.
At this height the fence is doing a different job from a six-foot boundary. It defines where the property starts, keeps the planting and the parking separate, and still lets light and view through. The anthracite frame against the oak boards picks up the dark grey porcelain paving, so the fence reads as part of the design rather than something bolted on at the end.
We’re a DuraPost trained installer, which matters more than it sounds. The system relies on the boards sitting correctly in the posts. Get that wrong and you lose the crisp lines that are the whole reason for choosing it.
